SIDM–CDIM MoU Exchange Advances Malaysia–India Defence Industry Cooperation

Kuala Lumpur, 12 February 2026 — A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchange between the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and the Coalition of Defence Industry Malaysia (CDIM) was successfully held in conjunction with the Mini Defence Expo cum Defence Industry Symposium Malaysia–India at the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. The programme was organised by the High Commission of India Kuala Lumpur and convened key stakeholders from government and industry.

The MoU signifies a strategic step toward strengthening bilateral defence industry engagement, aimed at facilitating structured collaboration, knowledge exchange, and potential joint initiatives between Malaysian and Indian defence manufacturers.

In his welcoming remarks, High Commissioner B.N. Reddy acknowledged the milestone and commended both organisations for their commitment to advancing industry cooperation. He highlighted India’s expanding defence industrial ecosystem and reaffirmed the importance of sustained Malaysia–India defence collaboration in supporting regional stability and innovation.

Dato’ Abdul Hadi bin Omar, Deputy Secretary General (Development) at the Kementerian Pertahanan Malaysia, delivered a special address emphasising opportunities for deeper partnership. He noted Malaysia’s interest in enhancing cooperation in technology sharing, industrial collaboration, and capacity development, while recognising India’s established strengths in defence manufacturing.

The symposium also saw participation and institutional support from the Ministry of External Affairs India, Ministry of Defence India, ADGPI Indian Army, HQ IDS India, and Malaysia’s Wisma Putra, reflecting a coordinated commitment to advancing bilateral defence ties.

The SIDM–CDIM MoU establishes a framework for continued dialogue and industry collaboration, reinforcing shared aspirations to strengthen defence capabilities, promote innovation, and expand mutually beneficial partnerships between Malaysia and India.
